Good food. Had a curry and the barman advised to try a mix of 2 half into real ales in a pint glass. Lovely. Had a pint in this pub when hitch hiking down to Shepton Mallet in 1970 to the Festival of Progressive Music and Blues and dropped in.
Hiked from Cheltenham to end up here - and it most definitely hit the spot after working up an appetite! The portions were large but the quality wasn't sacrificed for it, as it so often is. Truly hearty, homey, British food that warms the soul.The atmosphere is exactly as one would hope from such an establishment with a long history. It was warm and cosy on a cold rainy day. The staff were friendly and service was quick.I hope to return again and again!
